An overview of the eDiscussions being held on the G-8 website and on the Facebook page.
Transcript
These discussions are designed to give you an opportunity to voice your ideas and opinions on topics relevant to the 2010 G-8 Summit. You will find two types of discussions on the G-8 website and one more on Facebook. Here’s how they all work together:
The most formal of the discussions is held on the G-8 website and is designed to provide a summary of the most interesting and challenging points to departmental officers. This summary is also circulated to Canada’s Sherpa and senior officials. This is a place to post your well-thought-out opinions and policy papers.
If you don’t think your argument or idea is quite ready for the formal discussion area, or you just want to get some feedback on your ideas from your peers, then you can log onto our Facebook page and check out the Facebook Connect enabled secondary discussion. This is a place to refine your ideas, read up on the issues and view other peoples’ submissions. Once you have your thoughts together, you can then move your ideas onto the formal discussion area where they will be included in the summary that is sent to Canada’s Sherpa and senior officials.
The final and most informal type of discussion is found on the 2010 G-8 Facebook page wall. On the wall you will find links to news stories, the latest video clips from the G-8 Youtube channel and all kinds of other information. You can start mini-discussions right on the wall by adding a comment.
This is your chance to have your ideas heard and to take part in the policy making process, so keep your stick on the ice and join the game.
